How I Stay Inspired | The Savvy Peach
Have you been watching my social media accounts lately?
If you haven't, let me share that you haven't missed much. In all honesty, you haven't missed anything because I went MIA in February. Not because I don't love sharing tips or showing off my crazy kiddo, simply because I just became unmotivated with the content I had prepared. It just seemed uber lame and I drifted from my content plan into the new projects that filled the design calendar.
It's a terrible excuse, especially in a time when social media communication is so important (& when you're chatting about your favorite social media tools on the blog - my timing is ridiculous.) In my defense, I don't want to share things with you that I'm not passionate about... and when I lost interest, I figured you would too. Instead of forcing new content, I just let it slide.
While I dug deeper into my work, I realized that I have some awesome things I do to stay motivated in my creativity and I started applying them to my social media content. It's amazing how they work so well... I now have stuff to share that I'm sure you'll love and wanted to kick off March with a blog about what I do to stay motivated.
Plan.
Each week I make a To Do list of all the projects that are filling the design calendar, client calls/meetings and other business related tasks that need to be accomplished. I use a layout similar to this (include link to freebie printable) in order to keep myself on track and able to accomplish everything.
Focus.
When I first started out, I felt like I needed to respond to every email the MINUTE it hit my inbox. The result was burnout and frustration. When I was working on projects, the constant "ding" of the email filling up would distract me. Something had to give - and the notifications on my email were the first to go. Now, when I'm working my phone is on silent, all notifications on my computer are off (permanently) and I keep distractions to a minimum so I can focus on the task at hand.
Unplug.
Every week I create beautiful pieces and work with amazing people, but by Friday afternoon my brain needs a vacation from being constantly plugged in. I go Friday evening through Sunday night computer and social media free. When I first started this practice, I didn't know how well it would work. Wow-za! Let me just share that the moments away are filled with everything I need to be refreshed and renewed for the next week.
Now that I’ve gotten myself back on track, I’m excited about the good things coming to the Peach. This month will be filled with all kinds of fun - guest bloggers, spring freebies and more. Stay tuned and jump onto the VIPeach list so you don't miss any of the goodness.
