Blog Header, 2017 Spring Color Trends

Spring is officially here. Here in Georgia, I’m loving this warmer weather. I’m also ready for all things Spring. The colors, flowers, weather, and longer days. I’m also inspired by each change of the season. Different colors are popular in different seasons and I always love to see what the most popular colors will be!

Did you see that Pantone released their Fashion Color Report for Spring 2017? So many pretty colors! According to Pantone, the themes of the season are Vitality, Relaxation, and the Great Outdoors. What’s more perfect for this season ? Growth and restoration. Both calming and excitement.

Pantone’s Fashion Color Report for Spring 2017

Each season, I love seeing what Pantone says the colors of the season will be. Did you know that Greenery is the Color of the Year? I love it’s earthy tone! Pantone even says, “Bringing forth a refreshing take, Greenery is a tangy yellow-green that speaks to our need to explore, experiment and reinvent. Illustrative of flourishing foliage, the fertile attributes of Greenery signals one to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.”

Wouldn’t some of these colors look beautiful in your designs? I love the idea of Hazelnut, Island Paradise, and Greenery for a calm and peaceful baby shower. Or what about Pale Dogwood, Pink Yarrow, and Greenery for a Spring birthday party? You can read more about the colors and their descriptions over on Pantone’s site.

The psychology of colors

We know that certain colors are associated with different feelings. You likely know that yellow is associated with happiness, red with excitement, and green with nature. But what about the others? While design is a lot about understanding and knowing which colors complement each other the best it’s also about what colors cause which emotions. Combining both of these things is important for both impactful and beautiful designs.

This season, I love the combination of both earthy, neutral, and natural tones with exciting, fun, and happy tones. Perfect for Spring, right?

What are your thoughts of the colors of the season? Do you have a favorite? What emotions are brought to mind with the colors of Spring?
